Born in Chester to a Scottish mother and Welsh father, CLAUDIA CROFT attended school locally, and university in Leeds before completing an MA in fashion journalism at Central St Martins in London.

Her first job as a fashion writer was on the trade journal, Drapers Record - an experience which she says gave her an invaluable insight into the workings of the industry.

Thereafter, she was Deputy Fashion Editor of the London Evening Standard where she established a redoubtable reputation for discovering and supporting hot new design talent.

Since 2001, in her capacity as Fashion Features Director of Sunday Times Style magazine, she has been a front row fixture on the international fashion show circuit. Her weekly, widely imitated and hugely influential Wardrobe Mistress column has become a phenomenon - though only a small part of her role on the title. She also writes for a raft of other magazines, including Ten and Russian Vogue.

She lives in Islington with her boyfriend and about 147 pairs of fabulous shoes.
